Dr Johan van Hylckama Vlieg (Danone) has a PhD in Molecular Microbiology and is currently heading the science group in the Gut Microbiology and Probiotics Platform at Danone Research, Palaiseau, France. He has more than 10 years of professional experience in running research programmes at Danone Research, NIZO food research, TopInstitute Food and Nutrition  (TIFN), and the Kluyver Centre for Genomics of Industrial Fermentation. He is (co)-author on more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and co-inventor on 5 patent applications on lactic acid bacteria for food and health applications.

Dr. Patrick Veiga (Danone Research), PhD in Microbiology, is in charge of studying the interplay between gut microbiota, probiotics and host interactions. He has an expertise in genetic regulation in gram-positive bacteria, Lactococcus lactis or Bacillus subtilis. Prior to MetaHIT, he participated in Basysbio, a Systems Biology focused European program.

Prof. Dr. Willem M. de Vos (WU) is full professor and chair of Microbiology and heads the MIB. He has authored more than 350 research papers and is an ISI highly cited author in Microbiology. He recently also became Finland Distinguished Professor. He is a scientific director within the TI Food and Nutrition. He has coordinated various EU projects and led the ProEUHealth Science Platform.
